THE DEATH OF AMADOU GON COULIBALY AND DECISION OF ALASSANE OUATTARA

Known for shaping the destiny of Cote divoire but gained the world respect and recognition when President Alassane Ouattara uncommonly, In late 2019, announced that he would not  stand for a third  term in office stating that  “Throughout my career, I have always attached particular importance to honouring my commitments. Consequently, I have decided not to be a candidate in 2020,” Ouattara said Thursday. “It has been an honour to serve my country.”
Alassane Ouattara: How Ivory Coast's president stunned West Africa ...The Ivorian president was speaking to the 352 parliamentarians gathered in Congress in the amphitheatre of the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation in Yamoussoukro.
He continued “I would like to solemnly announce that I have decided not to be a candidate in the presidential election of 31 October 2020 and to transfer power to a younger generation,”. Which was posted on his Twitter account.
The announcement by the Ivoirian leader, who is held in high regard in many Western countries comes with no surprise because of President Alassane’s long  campaign for good governance  which is being celebrated as a beacon of hope for stable and prosperous Africa.
 He fulfilled the democratic gesture, when he honorable handed the governing party's candidate to Amadou Gon Coulibaly for the October presidential election . A development well accepted by the party faithfuls .But death being so brutal changed the whole complexion. we sadly woke up with the news that   ‘’Ivory Coast's prime minister and the governing party's candidate for an October presidential election, died on Wednesday, just days after returning from two months of medical treatment in France’’
His death would no doubt create uncertainty over the election in Ivory Coast, the world's top cocoa grower.
In a special tribute to the late prime minister, President  Ouattara revealed  "my youngest brother, my son" and his closest political ally for 30 years.
"I salute the memory of a statesman of great loyalty, devotion and love for his country," he added.

Now, the RHDP has to choose a replacement candidate.
"All options are on the table, including a new candidacy for President Ouattara," Adama Bictogo, RHDP executive secretary, told journalists on Thursday as he arrived for a meeting of the party's political council.
President Ouattara has the right to run again under a new constitution adopted in 2016.
RHDP executive secretary,Mr.Adama Bictago in an interview with the press said "All options are on the table, including a new candidacy for President Ouattara,"
Whatever happens, Africa calls on the world to join hands to ensure a continued stability being championed by its current leader.
